Untapped reservoire accross three energy portfolios - Water, Wind and Green Hydrogen
Current Projects
Carnarvon's seawater abundance represents untapped reservoires energy through three types of projects. Wave, Tidal and Ocean Thermal.
The Energy
Wave Energy: Generated by wind, have a significant amount of energy that can be captured and converted into electricity. Wave energy is strongest where there are trade winds and ocean swells, and technologies like wave energy converters can harness this energy.
Tidal Energy:Tides, the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and sun, create predictable and powerful currents. Tidal energy can be harnessed through turbines in tidal streams or by using barrages to trap water during high tide.
Ocean Thermal Energy:The temperature difference between the ocean's surface and deeper waters can be used to generate energy. This is particularly significant in tropical regions where the surface water can be much warmer than the water at depth.
The Benefits
Renewable and Sustainable:Ocean energy is a continuous and naturally replenished resource, unlike fossil fuels.
Clean Energy:Ocean energy sources produce minimal greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants.
Predictable:Tidal cycles are highly predictable, making tidal energy a reliable source.
